Empowering Educators: Local Impact, Regional Reach, Global Vision
King Saud University (KSU) demonstrates a steadfast commitment to preparing high-quality educators who advance inclusive and equitable education. Each year, approximately 600 teachers graduate from the College of Education, equipped to teach across a broad range of academic stages and disciplines. This is further strengthened by the College of Early Childhood Education, which offers a dedicated bachelor’s degree in early childhood, contributing to foundational learning and aligned with SDG Target 4.2.

In support of ongoing professional growth, the Educational Center for Development and Professional Training offers 54 training programs and events in 2024, reaching over 7,968 participants. These initiatives targeted key themes such as modern teaching strategies, digital learning tools, inclusive education, artificial intelligence in pedagogy, and foundational literacy—reflecting alignment with Targets 4.c and 4.7. 

To expand the national capacity for teacher development, KSU has also signed formal agreements with the National Institute for Teacher Training, aligning institutional efforts with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and enhancing the pipeline of qualified educators within the Kingdom. This program, conducted with the National Institute of Education in Singapore, focuses on five core modules:

• Classroom Management
• Designing Learning Environments
• Modern Educational Technologies
• Educational Psychology
• Strategies for Meeting Students’ Needs

KSU’s educational outreach extends into conflict-affected regions, notably through a partnership under the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, where the university trained 200 Yemeni teachers across the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Hadramout. This initiative promotes educational continuity and inclusivity in challenging environments, supporting SDG Target 4.1.

On the international front, KSU is a signatory to a landmark agreement with ICESCO, covering 54 countries, to develop and certify teachers across the Muslim world. This initiative contributes directly to SDG Target 4.c by expanding access to qualified teaching professionals globally.
